A pioneer evangelist, Rev. G.R. Morris, came to Lebanon and held revival services in a tent. At the close of the six week revival, a Church of God was organized in May 1938 with 17 charter members. The church moved to a metal building with sawdust floors on Lester Avenue and eventually purchased property on that street in 1942 and built another building there in 1947. In 1950, Rev. Walter Sellars began his 27 year tenure as pastor and led the church through a season of growth and spiritual vibrancy.
Under Pastor Sellars's leadership, the church moved to Forrest Avenue in 1967 and built a new facility. In 1979, Pastor Gordon Lee began his 43 year tenure as the church's pastor. After the church burned in 1980, the congregation built a larger facility in the same location with additional space for classes and children's ministry. Under Pastor Lee's leadership, the church continued to grow in membership, financial standing, and in every area of ministry.
After decades of growth, the church purchased 13 acres on Hartsville Pike in Lebanon and built a new facility in 2001 that continues to serve as our home.
Upon completing his tenure, Pastor Gordon Lee passed the torch to Pastor Drew Eastes in April 2022. Under his leadership, the church continues to thrive and to serve as a ministry center for broken people to find Christ!
